12 Scriptures Every Mom Needs to Circle in Her Bible

12 powerful scriptures that every single mom needs to circle in their Bible. Also, get the free printable to tuck into your Bible or prayer journal.

Why I Circle Scriptures:

One of my favorite things to do during my quiet time is flip through my Bible and see what stands out to me. Sometimes it’s a doodle, a bright pink highlighted verse, a scribble left by a child or a crinkled page. But most of the time it’s the scriptures that I have drawn circles around that makes me pause, read and ponder.

I have written before about how I write out my scriptures in an effort to battle depression. This is a similar practice that has brought powerful change to my walk with Christ.

What is it about circles?

In Mark Batterson’s book, “Praying Circles around your Children,” he says that “Drawing prayer cricles is a metaphor that simply means, ‘pray without ceasing. It’s praying until God answers.”

This book is super cheap ($2.99 at the time of this post) and it’s a really quick read. It gives some awesome examples of real-life people who have prayed specific and powerful prayers over and over again for their children and how God is so faithful to answer.

I know that there is awesome power in prayer, but sometimes I look at it as a last resort. God is really working on that in me–which is why I am running to his Word so often lately.

I know God delights when I am in HIS WORD.

Every time I cry out to God in prayer—I circle the promise in the Bible.

Then I circle it again.

When I’m thumbing through my Bible, those dark circles always catch my eye.

So I stop on the page, read it again, and circle it again.

Leaning into the promise, worshipping God for what’s to come, and checking to see if my will lines up with GOD’S will.

A couple of things will happen when you begin circling scriptures. A natural consequence is memorization—before you know it, the words will be “hidden in your heart,” (Psalm 119:11) You will become a living, breathing, representation of Christ.

My favorite side effect of circling scriptures has been having the words always on the tip of my tongue. I have found myself speaking them over my children, during Bible study sessions with friends, and during disagreements with my husband. Instead of my words, I am pouring out God’s truth.

God is so faithful to us–that even when we don’t know it–He is protecting us. He guards our hearts, our minds, and the words that flow from our lips.

He is so good.

As a mom, I need to seek the Lord so that I can be sure that I am in the perfect will of God. I can not control, manipulate, or do things in my own strength. These twelve verses are a great place to begin (or continue) hiding God’s Word in my heart. Maybe you’d like to do the same?

12 scriptures every mom needs to circle in her Bible.

12 Verses Every Mom Should Circle in Her Bible

1.  2 Peter 3:8-9

“But, do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

2.   Proverbs 22:6

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

3.  1 John 5:14-15

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

4.  Psalm 28:7

“The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him.”

5.  2 Corinthians 12:9

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

6.  Isaiah 40:11

“He will tend his flock like a shepherd;
he will gather the lambs in his arms;
he will carry them in his bosom,
and gently lead those that are with young.”

7.  Psalm 121:1-4

“I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel.”

8.  1 Peter 5:6-7

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

9.  Isaiah 26:3-4

“You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”

10.  Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

11.  Hebrews 4:16

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

12.  Galatians 6:9

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

    I love this! I never thought of the representation that a circle could be. For me I’m a visual learner and remember things by the way it looks. So my bible has all kinds of colors and designs in it. When I think of a verse I can sometimes recall it based on how it is highlighted in my Bible. Even though we are in a digital age I prefer paper so I can make marks! Thank you for sharing about the circle. I will be adding that to my Bible marks!

      Most people get into a marriage with high and full spirits. They know full well what they are getting into and accept this with an open heart. While you may say that there is a lot of hype in marriages especially on the days leading up to the wedding day, it can get a bit frustrating to have a misunderstanding in your relationship. I have been through hell with my husband for a very long time. With the help of the great spell caster, I was able to resolve my marriage issue and now I finally find happiness in my marriage. For anyone going through any kind of relationship issue or you like to get back with your ex, I will suggest getting in touch with the best relationship advice specialist that will bring happiness back into your home. drjumbaspellhome.wordpress.com Lilian K.

    I don’t circle verses in my Bible but I do write a lot of things and underline. I love to be able to go back and see how it impacted and what stuck out to me when I wrote it. THis is such a great list of verses. Thanks for sharing it with us. If you have time, I would love for you to pop over to Sitting Among Friends Blog Party and share this with us. Pinned and Tweeted!

    I circle verses in my Bible all the time I even mention if it is “worship” “promise” etc as well next to the verse. Thank you so much for emphasizing the importance of circling the verses and loving God’s word

    Thank you for writing this. I really really need prayer and to pray consistently for my 17year old daughter. She can be loving but she is most often mean, bossy, sassy,disrespectful and doesn’t care if she is. I’m gonna start circling because soon she’ll be leaving for college and if she doesn’t change I don’t know what will happen I need God thank you again I know God’s gonna help my daughter

    Just wanted to let you know that you have Galatians 6:9 written as Hebrews 4:16 so you may want to fix that. Love your blog!
